BRAZIL, A COUNTRY NOT TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY! IS THAT THE FINAL TRUTH ABOUT OUR COUNTRY?

The words: “Le Brésil n’est pas un pays serieux”- Brazil is not a serious country, pronounced by the Diplomat Carlos Alves De Souza Filho, when he was Ambassador to Brazil in France, between 1956 e 1964, has echoed throughout the world up to this day. Whenever the country is on the spotlight, people are reminded of these words spelled out years ago.

The perception of Brazil, almost 50 years ago, was that Brazil didn’t take things too seriously. Unfortunately, this hasn’t changed much; today, not only foreigners but also we, Brazilians believe that nothing in our country is to be taken seriously.

What is wrong with our country? What’s wrong with us, the people? Our politicians became more corrupt; our people less and lesser educated; our health system is not efficient, neither is our public transportation system and public safety is as bad as everything else. Our roads and streets have more vehicles than they could support.

Economically people might say that the country is doing well because of the fact that many foreign companies came to Brazil, creating more jobs opportunities. In a sense I agree with that, but I ask, at what cost? We pay too much more for industrialized products, than in any other country and yet, the products we buy do not have the same quality as they do in USA and Europe. The international companies come to Brazil, because here their profits are exorbitant; they can sale second class products as luxury products and Brazilian costumers don’t care. Consumerism is stimulated through government subsidies, which benefits big companies, increasing their profits.

The words Brazil is not a serious country, to whom it should be applied? A country is the territory of a nation and a Nation is made of sufficiently conscious people, about its unity, therefore, Brazilian people, according to Mr. Filho, are not serious people.

We the people, tend to blame the government and the politicians for everything bad that happens in the country, but the matter of the fact is that we are as much responsible. Each person has its share of responsibility about the good and the bad things that happen around us in our country. We always ask the government to do something or everything for us, we rarely ask what we can do to make Brazil, our country, a better place.

The government only exists because of people. There is no government without people. People can live without government, but no government can subsist without people’s support. If things are bad in Brazil, our country, we, the people, are to be blamed for it, as much or even more than our politicians, for they do not exist without us the people. We are co-responsible; we are the ones who elect our government and our representatives in congress.

Our politicians do not respect us, and therefore, do not represent us in congress accordingly, because they know we are weak as people. We are weak because we do not have the conscious of unity, which is necessary to make people powerful. We don’t think of Brazil as our own homeland, we are not really patriotic. Our sense of nationalism and patriotism is limited to Football; no wonder government has invested billions of reais to host international football championships in Brazil, not mentioning the amounts of money that is spent every year for national and local football championships.

If fact, we do not take things as serious as we should. Here it reigns the law of “jeitinho” known everywhere as “jetinho brasileiro”, which means to deceive people and bypass the rules to take advantage of everything and everyone, to achieve personal goals. The “jetinho brasileiro” made us more selfish, without a national conscience and less patriotic.

We, Brazilian people do not put the whole society before ourselves, not even for the greater good. We don’t see our country as our land or our community as our home to care for.

What is lacking is education in Brazil. The numbers are scary, even when compared to our South American neighbors. Brazil has a percentage of college students lower than Paraguayan; Only 3% of Brazilians are bilinguals. The country has 9% of illiterates, in Brazil there are 33.000.000 of functional illiterates. Last year 300.000 new illiterate emerged. Among the 300 best universities in the world, has no Brazilian university.

The UN 2012 Ranking, Brazil, which was already misplaced, dropped 3 more positions, and today is the number 88 in the world. Brazil is behind Belize, Fiji Islands, Chad, Azerbaijan, Mauritius, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Paraguay, Trinidad and Tobago, Belarus, Tajikistan, Botswana, Sao Tome and Principe, Namibia, Saint Lucia, Moldavia .... Brazil managed to stay even behind the Palestine that is at war.

An International embarrassment, but Brazilian people are very happy for being five times world champion, playing FOOTBAL!

DEATH PENALTY, CRIMINAL AGE, INCREASE IN PENALTY

The death penalty and the reduction of age for criminal responsibility as well as the increase to 60 years of jail time, as maximum term for convicted prisoners.

I AM IN FAVOR:
THE DEATH PENALTY AND THE REDUCTION OF THE AGE FOR CRIMINAL RESPONSIBILITY TO THE AGE OF 14 YEARS OLD;
INCREASING THE MAXIMUM PENALTY OF IMPRISONMENT OF 30 TO 60 YEARS;
CITIZENS SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO HAVE A GUN AT HOME, TO PROTECT AND DEFEND YOUR FAMILY AND YOUR PROPERTY OF ANY INVADER ATTACK THAT PUT AT RISK YOUR SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF YOUR FAMILY.
THE BRAZILIAN LAW MAKERS SHOULD PASS A NON-TRESPASSING LAW THAT GUARANTEES A CITIZEN, THE RIGHT TO USE THE NECESSARY MEANS TO PROTECT AND DEFEND, ONESELF, ONE’S FAMILY AND ONE’S PROPERTY AGAINST ANYONE  WHO MIGHT THREAT THEM.

It is not fair that good citizens remain hostage to the impunity that prevails in Brazil. It can’t continue like it has been.

With the debate over the implementation or not of the death penalty in Brazil many theories against the death penalty emerge and most of these theories, is based on pure theory only, excluding relevant facts of everyday life, such as the increase of barbaric crimes in our midst ; impunity and / or light punishment . Some people want to end the death penalty, even before trying it and seeing the results.

I believe that given the fact of the exorbitant rise in crime, it is necessary to impose the death penalty in Brazil. The one instituted through the state, since it was already established by the criminals, against all good citizens. I do not believe that the death penalty per se, will definitely solve the crime problem, but it will solve in a temporary basis, until the return to order and peace prevail in our society. Criminals should be punished severely and that punishment should serves as an example, to inhibit the weak citizen joining crime. Things cannot continue as they have been lately; we must try anything possible to reestablish order and peace in our society.
The death penalty should indeed be instituted to punish repeat offenders and those who commit heinous crimes and to punish corrupt politicians as well, since corruption seriously undermines society in general.

There is much talk about Democracy and Freedom, but society doesn’t function well without rigid moral and ethics boundaries. We human beings need these limits, without them we are in risk to become irrational animals. The way things have been, we are not too far from that, we’ve seen so many atrocities right in front of our eyes.

The good and law abiding citizens are held hostage to violence, unable to defend themselves, as it the law prohibits having a weapon in your possession even your own life, your property from invasion. On the other side, the thugs are well armed and even more violent.

The other day, I heard the news on the radio- Itatiaia Station, the police arrested  a suspect of murdering a taxi driver during an assault, and the reporter asked the suspect  if he had anything  to say , and shamelessly answered that people must not react to the assault. This story of  not react to a crime committed against you, it is very convenient for the criminal, but for the law abiding people, never is, because these perpetrators have no mercy , for they are not content to just taking your belongings, but they also, rape and kill , even when the victim does not to their actions.

The minors, with 14 year of age can and should be punished criminally, as an adult. What it shouldn’t be accepted is current situation, as regular people continue to suffer violence at the hands of these criminals, protected by soft laws that do not punish them appropriately. The excuse that these people had no opportunities in life, does not serve as an excuse to protect them from being punished accordingly.

It is necessary to increase the maximum term of imprisonment, as it is today, the time in jail is almost insignificant that it feels like a resting time for prisoners recharge their energy, to commit more crimes when they live prison  . Over the years, the life expectancy of the man rose up. When the maximum sentence of 30 years was established, the life expectancy of men was at most 50 years, having good health at the time. Today, with life expectancy ranging between 70 and 80 years, it is therefore, only fair that the maximum term of imprisonment is increased to at least 60 years of imprisonment term.

Another important detail, the prisoner has to work. The public cleaning service for example, should be run by jailed, thereby the cities would save a fortune with this service – money that could be invest in other important areas in the community, and the prisoner would not be idle. And we should not agree with the excuse- given by many, if the prisoner worked, that would take the work of someone else, because I do not believe that is 100% true.

PENA DE MORTE E REDUÇÃO DA MAIORIDADE PENAL E AUMENTA DA PENA MÁXIMA

EU SOU A FAVOR:
DA PERNA DE MORTE E DA REDUÇÃO DA MAIORIDADE PENAL PARA 14 ANOS DE IDADE;

DO AUMENTO DA PENA MÁXIMA DE 30 PARA 60 ANOS DE PRISÃO;

DE O CIDADÃO DE BEM TER O DIREITO DE TER UMA ARMA EM CASA, PARA SE
DEFENDER E DEFENDER SUA FAMÍLIA E SEU BEM;

Everything Is Temporary, Even You!

I like to write and post my writings because I like to share my thoughts, ideas and beliefs with others, always believing that I can help someone through my personal experiences, with the understanding that I am not always right and neither, I am always wrong.

Throughout the years I’ve learned that everything is temporary, absolutely everything. Everything we believe we have today, it will be gone tomorrow; for some, tomorrow might come sooner and for others later, but eventually it will come.

I’ve seen the table turn many times, for many people and some people who were not prepared for that change, could not bear it and such change caused distress and such suffering that some people became depressive and ended tanking their own life.

What I also learned is that we must add value to our life. We must add things that will last even after we are gone, such as respect towards others, wisdom solidarity, kindness, unselfishness and love, just to name a few. We should always have an open mind towards everything, but especially in regards to other people, because we are always evolving and we never stop changing; an opinion about someone today, might not be the same tomorrow.

Be always critic of yourself, before criticizing others. I’ve learned that people judge others as if they were looking into the mirror and seeing their own image, reflecting back to them, so be careful when you judge someone, you could be condemning yourself, as the Bible teaches in Luke 6:37 and in Mathew 7:1.

Be frank to others, without being too harsh, but, be frank to yourself first, by doing that, it is possible it could change the way you see thing or people.
